Long Island jobs lost because of NAFTA

At least 3,134 Long Island workers have lost their jobs since 1994 because manufacturers shifted their positions abroad as a result of the North American Free Trade Agreement, according to government documents. Here are figures compiled by Newsday business reporter James T. Madore about workers deemed eligible for retraining funds because of the shifts in trade. Documents came from the U.S. Department of Labor, the Federal Register, Public Citizen and the New York State Department of Labor.
