Long Island teachers by age bracket

There are fewer younger teachers in Long Island classrooms than ten years ago. The percentage of teachers age 32 and younger in 2012-2013 was 14 percent lower than in 2002-2003, according to data from the New York State Education Department. But, local educators say it could change soon as more teachers reach retirement age.

Here are the 2012-2013 figures for Long Island districts. The table below includes central high school and BOCES district figures, which are not included on the map because the overlap.
