Long Island educators named New York Master Teachers

These 42 Long Island teachers were named Monday as New York State Master Teachers -- the first educators from Long Island to receive the recognition. They were among 215 teachers of science, technology, engineering and mathematics statewide named on April 14, 2014 in the program, which encourages educators to mentor their peers and deepen their own scholarship and professional development. The New York State Master Teachers program was announced in October 2013 by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, and an initial cohort of 104 teachers, from other areas of the state, was announced at that time.
