Cancer cases and deaths on Long Island

More than 17,000 cases of cancer occurred on Long Island in the average year from 2008 through 2012, according to the most recent data available from the state Department of Health, and an average of more than 5,000 deaths a year were reported. Here are details on the types of cancer for that period. The table below includes 2003-2007 data for comparison. Rates based on fewer than 4 cases or deaths per year are not considered stable and should be used with caution; there are small error margins associated with each figure.
