Home loans on Long Island
There were 40,464 home loans on Long Island in 2011, a 65.6 percent drop from 2005, according to federal housing data. The 2011 figure, the latest available, was down 11.3 percent from the year before, and represents all loans approved during the year to purchase, refinance or make improvements on homes.
