Nassau crashes at red-light camera intersections through 2012

Vehicular accidents are down 20.6 percent overall at Nassau intersections with red-light cameras, according to data from the county. Rear-end accidents, which were up in Suffolk County, are down 18.5 percent in Nassau on average. This map and table compare accident data for those intersections.

The ''before'' data represent the number of accidents in the year before the camera operation began at each location, which ranged from August 2009 to December 2012. The ''after'' data represent the yearly average from the time the operation began; locations have either one, two or three years of ''after'' data going into their averages.

Here is the data for Suffolk's program.
