Where detained immigrant children are released to sponsors

Suffolk and Nassau counties rank at the top among U.S. counties where unaccompanied immigrant children who have been apprehended by authorities are placed with sponsors. Suffolk is third in the nation with 4,671 children, and Nassau is eighth with 3,837. Here are figures from the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement showing locations where 50 or more children have been placed as of June 30, 2017.
