Where detained immigrant children are released

Suffolk and Nassau rank in the top of U.S. counties where unaccompanied immigrant children who have been apprehended by immigration authorities are placed with sponsors. Suffolk is third in the nation and Nassau fifth. Here are figures from the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement showing locations where 50 or more children have been placed since Jan. 1, 2014.
