Suffolk and Nassau rank at the top of U.S. counties where unaccompanied immigrant children who have been apprehended by immigration authorities are placed with sponsors. Suffolk is third in the nation and Nassau is seventh. Here are figures from the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement showing locations where 50 or more children were placed as of Jan. 31, 2016.
