First day of school on Long Island

With Labor Day falling on Sept. 2 and Rosh Hashanah on Sept. 5-6, public school districts had decisions to make this year about when to start school. Here's what they decided.

Thirty-four districts start on Sept. 3, and another 21 the next day. Only one district starts on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6. The largest group, 65, starts on Sept. 9.
