Violations for public drinking water systems on LI

There were 276 violations issued against public water systems in Nassau and Suffolk counties from 2006 to mid-September 2013. Here is data from the State Department of Health about the violations against the three types of public water systems: community (such as towns), non-transient non-community (such as schools or factories), or transient non-community systems (such as rest stops, parks, and stores). Smaller public water supplies are not included.

Under "Violation type" there are two kinds of monitoring violations. A major violation is when no tests were taken or no test results were submitted to the state. A minor violation is when some, but not all, of the required samples are collected and/or submitted.
