Hurricanes and nor'easters on Long Island
Here are details from the past 80 years on hurricanes in which the eye passed within 100 miles of the center of Long Island, along with notable nor'easters. The "maximum strength" listed for each hurricane is from the life of the storm; the narrative in the final column mentions the status of the storm when it arrived on Long Island. The material comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and from published reports.
