The LIPA circuit
Newsday has identified 41 of the 174 employees who have worked at LIPA since 2003 as having political connections before getting a job with the power authority. Research and interviews revealed these individuals are linked to either Democrats or Republicans through family ties, political friendships and activities or appointive and elected positions. LIPA chief operating officer Michael Hervey says his workers are and have been well qualified for the jobs they hold or held.
