Sex offenders are classified according to their risk of re-offending: low-risk (Level 1), moderate risk (Level 2) and high-risk (Level 3). The Sex Offender Registration Act requires the Division of Criminal Justice Services to maintain a Sex Offender Registry and to post information about Level 2 and 3 offenders.
Newsday collects this information from the state website and posts it here to make it easier to search. Offenders are listed by name and by known aliases. In some cases a secondary address is available. While the table below includes sex offenders who are homeless or incarcerated, only offenders with a valid address are shown on the map.
Information about offenders not listed on this site is available through the criminal justice division at 800-262-3257. If you believe that any information found in these records is incorrect, please contact the Sex Offender Registry at the Division of Criminal Justice Services, 80 South Swan St, Albany, NY 12210 or by e-mail at email@example.com
The map shows the Census boundaries for communities, which do not match postal boundaries, so some sex offenders with mailing addresses in one area may be counted in another. Zoom in to the map to see the location of individuals and click on dots on the map to get details.
