Riding the rails with the Long Island Live Steamers
Long Island Live Steamers
Open secret: There’s a Southaven train station. But the train runs only on certain Sundays. The Long Island Live Steamers club is an all-volunteer group that operates a scaled-down train at Southaven County Park in Brookhaven. Kids can ride the rails 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on the second and last Sundays of the month all summer. There’s a ticket booth ($1-$2 suggested donation) and plenty of space for bystanders to snap some memorable photos.
