Andrew M. Cuomo
New York Governor (Democrat)

Cuomo has not responded to Newsday's survey.

Newsday sent Cuomo the following questions and offered him unlimited space to respond on this page. Cuomo can still answer the survey; if he answers, this page will be updated within one business day.

Send him a tweet or tell him what you think in the comments.

Background:

Cuomo is the state's top elected official. He spoke in his 2014 State of the State address about a medical marijuana plan that he could move forward using executive powers. The plan, based on a 1980 drug research law, could allow doctors to prescribe marijuana through up to 20 New York hospitals and make it available only for patients with certain diseases such as cancer.

Cuomo was elected New York State's 56th governor in 2010. Previously, he served as the state attorney general. As New York's top prosecutor, he investigated the college loan industry, home mortgage scams, abuse of the state pension fund, Internet sex predators and government corruption. He is the son of Gov. Mario M. Cuomo and lives in Mount Kisco.

Questions:

Do you support legalizing the use of medical marijuana in New York?

Should chronically ill children and teens be able to use medical marijuana with parental and doctor approval?

Ways to consume marijuana include smoking it, using it as an oil, taking it as a capsule and eating it.

Should medical marijuana be available in a variety of forms to allow patients to choose the form they use?

Should medical marijuana be limited for chronically ill patients and distributed by a limited number of hospitals as proposed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo?

Do you support legalizing the recreational use of marijuana as has been done in Colorado and Washington?
