Background:

Schimel is a member of the Assembly. Working with the State Senate, the Assembly can propose and pass laws that legalize and tax medical marijuana.

Schimel, of Great Neck, has held her current office since winning a special election in 2007. She received a bachelor's degree and a certificate in physical therapy from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a certified wound specialist from the American Academy of Wound Management.
