Spencer, of Centerport, won election to the legislature in 2011. He was on the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Huntington Housing Authority for 12 years, eight of those years as chairman.

Do you support legalizing the use of medical marijuana in New York?

No

Should chronically ill children and teens be able to use medical marijuana with parental and doctor approval?

Yes

Ways to consume marijuana include smoking it, using it as an oil, taking it as a capsule and eating it.

Should medical marijuana be available in a variety of forms to allow patients to choose the form they use?

No

Should medical marijuana be limited for chronically ill patients and distributed by a limited number of hospitals as proposed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo?

Do you support legalizing the recreational use of marijuana as has been done in Colorado and Washington?

No

His comments:

1. No, but if the conditions, qualifications and methods of delivery can be strickly clarified and controlled I would consider supporting it.
2. Yes, but only in cases of life-threatening chronic illness where conventional, approved therapies have failed.
3. No, the forms of delivery should be ministered in way to maximize the effective medical delivery. Other methods, such as smoking, carry potential associated risks involved with inhalation of smoke. There is an increased potential for abuse if multiple delivery methods are available for the patient to choose from.
4. Yes, but only if the qualifications of the prescribers, as well as facilities, are strickly regulated and clearly defined.
5. No, I don't support recreational use of marijuana.
